Resistance
Last year I took part in an post-graduate course in Anthropology and Development at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. One of the books on the syllabus was James C. Scott's Domination and the Arts of Resistance[1]. His analysis is based on three categories of domination:
- material,
- status and
- ideological.
Each of these gives rise to different types of resistance, which may be either
- public, e.g.
- petitions
- demonstrations
- disguised
- everyday forms of resistance
- squatting
- stock theft.
