I Build Bridges – (Roselyn Maneipuri)

I build bridges.

Bridges that must connect,

Bridges that must relate,

Bridges that readily forgive

Those that hurt me sore.

Bridges that heal our self-inflicted wounds

Bridges that mend and bind our hearts always!

I build bridges.

Bridges that must expose,

Bridges that must reveal what’s inside,

Bridges that look you in the eye,

And say, ‘You’re no different to me!’

Bridges that continue to chip out this selfish pride

Bridges that draw us closer as partners of hope!

I build bridges.

Bridges that must always let me

Truly touch those I meet along the way,

Know and love so much.

Bridges that must cut off this selfishness

That wanted so much to detour me from

Bridges I ought to build and cross over many times.

Bridges that need to reach beyond races and creeds!
