PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

  • He is also involved in Teaching and Managing the University of Education,Winneba (UEW)in Ghana's ICT Center.
  • His advocacy work in the use of ICTs and Open Source Technologies, has made him serve oneVillage Foundation-Ghana (a branch of an International NGO - oneVillage Foundation as the Country Director voluntarily for several years. His focus areas within foundation includes ICTs for Development specialising in Education and providing wholistic sustainable solutions to Community Development through the oneVillage Initiative.
  • He volunteers to Coordinate the West African Chapter of the FLOSS4Edu Project under the Wiki Educator Framework; and also on some Ghana's ICT for Development related committees including the Technology WG of National eLearning Africa 08 organising committe, UEW's Teaching and Learning Innovation Group (TELIG), and Coordinator of UEW's [http:www.wikieducator.org/UEW Educational Content Development Initiative Project] .
  • Kafui founded the Winneba Linux Users Group (WiLUG) which seeks to focus on developing programs to train students at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to use and promote Open Source Technologies in Educational. He currently facilitates the group to become the beacon of hope for Applications of Free and Open Source as well as Low Cost Technologies for Educational practice in Africa and beyond.
  • He also co-founded the African Youth Initiative (AYI)which was later supported by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) to be the African Youth ICT4D Network. AYIN is a networked generation of young Africans empowering themselves through ICTs and contributing to the continent's participation in the Information Society

His voluntary leadership of OVF Ghana has led to several accomplishments. He designed and coordinated the implementation of the:

1.Winneba Open Digital Village - the Village Tel:+233 (0)432 20270

  • Open Digital Villages (ODiVs) are community focused development initiatives, driven by a combination of Open Source, Open Hardware and Wireless Technologies and geared to promote community oriented sustainable development. His efforts has led to the succesful set of the first ODiV in Africa.

2. Catch IT Young Project

  • An ICT literacy program that builds capacities of students and teachers in pre-tertiary schools in Southern Ghana using ICT professionals as volunteers. Winneba and Apam Educational Districts benefited from this project.

3. Sports People That Care Project

  • A project which provides care and support for People Living HIV/AIDS and Children orphaned by AIDS through sports. A notable event was the football match between two first prestigious clubs in Ghana, Accra Hearts of OAK and Liberty Professionals in 2005 at the Accra Sports Stadium co-organised with ProLink Organisation.

* 1. Please note that we should be taking our first quiz on Friday, April 18 2008. This will be made up of multiple choice questions and a few fin-in-the-blanks, probably making up 20 marks

*2. Our second quiz should take place on Friday April 25, 2008. This will be your mid semester assessment. It will have a combination five (5) multiple choice questions, five (5) fill in the blanks, and two practical assessment questions. One (1) for MS Word and the other for MS Excel. *Free Course at the Winneba Open Digital Village on "Conduction Effective Online Research"

* I have finally set the dates for the free course on "Conduction Effective Online Research" to help you complete your assignments and course work/research successfully. I will be teaching this skills to the ICT Club of UEW on Tuesday April 8 and Wednesday April 9, 2008. I am planning to teach you, Social Studies Level 100 students, the following week, but this has been changed as I will be away for official duties soon. The Social Studies lesson will therefore take place on Thursday April 10 and Friday April 11, 2008. Please call "the Village" on 0432-20270 and register with Christie (Admin. Assistant) or me on 0244-429-448 to book your place. There are computers for twenty (20) people at a time. But we can have seats for fifteen (15) more people who can come with their laptops. Thanks.
