Comments for front page
I have a few comments, here:
- I notice that this is project specific, and that is wise. However, we may want to have some lingo about supporting institutions, or providing some level of support to institutions as they migrate to OER;
- Yeah -- I think its important to organise around projects -- that said, projects or parts of projects reside within institutions, and to help organisations achieve the best from OER it would definitely be important ot provide organisations with support. --Wayne Mackintosh 00:38, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- Some lingo about building on the core competencies of various projects - for example, WikiEducator's core competency is as a production environment (there's more, but if folk/OER projects were to use and leverage WE, they could devote their resources (sorry, resOERces) to other areas - you get the point;
- Agree - saving cost/time in one area, is money/time which can be put to good use in other areas. --Wayne Mackintosh 00:38, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- "leverage" - it's an important word/focus - would like to see it woven in somewhere;
- open textbooks - don't see much mention of it, at this point. I think it's really an important factor to weave in. The folks at SBCTC have gotten a great deal of traction and support for OER, by pointing to the funds spent by students, in an aggregate way, for texts. I think CollabOERate could support institutions in developing open texts, and support folks in learning from, and with each other. There - another community of interest!
- Yip, I agree -- Still work in progress -- I've started a project called the International_Open_Course_Library_Project which builds on and adds value to SBTC at an international level. --Wayne Mackintosh 00:38, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- Regarding the licensing, 'free cultural works definition' - fine by me - just add the letters (CC-BY or CC-BY-SA) - makes it easier to read...
- Good point -- fixed :-) --Wayne Mackintosh 00:38, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
- We may also want to have a living list of OER projects and partners - that may be for the planning page...
- Yip -- that's the idea, all work in progress. --Wayne Mackintosh 00:38, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
