Diagnostic

I think diagnostic assessment (eg placement, literacy etc) should be added to the list (and to the wordle - sorry!)

I usually teach that there are two main reasons for assessing:

1. to support/improve learning (formative purpose) 2. certification (summative purpose)

External stakeholders such as society and 'industry' have a big stake in the latter.
