This is in good shape. Minor suggestions for the most part. The video is most important

Even if it means setting it up again:

Video[edit]

This lesson plan desperately needs a video clip illustrating the concept. The lesson works very well, but video would demonstrate just how well it works in a way that can't be captured by still photography. Once changes have been made, you should delete the text ''{{Clip}}''from your page.

Alka-Seltzer[edit]

Add a tag in the materials that looks like this: {{wikipedia|Alka-Seltzer}}

Metric system[edit]

Please use the metric system for all measures and use the appropriate symbol in the correct case based on the Système International d'Unités (SI units). Imperial (US or English) units should be placed in parentheses if they are important (pint jars for example). This is important for at least two reasons:

  • The scientific community adopts the metric system and we should model that for children in science class
  • This is an international resource and SI units are internationally recognized. Imperial units vary from place to place.

Example: We used 118ml (4 US fluid ounce) Dixie cups for our experiment.

next steps[edit]

Certainly add the chemistry piece here. You have citric acid and baking soda in the tablets. Once moist, the two ingredients mix, react, and release CO2. Get the full reaction from the wikipedia article. Edit the wikipedia article, copy and paste the formula, and then cite your source.

Link this to the density rainbow activity. What would happen with alka seltzer in there?

Lesson plan[edit]

number 2: rephrase. Perhaps when the three ingredients are mixed. Also, I think students need some more guidance. What is their basis for formulating a hypothesis?

Math connection[edit]

I don't really see math here. Simply measuring is not enough. If just measuring is a legit standard, then link right to it. But definitely add an artistic connection. You could mix colors, you are making a craft, and you could mess with light color to get other effects. A strobe light would add a very interesting effect.
