Hove, I would like you to understnd that the situation has not been waiting a lot of research on the website has been happening about the Uganda Stock Exchange, etc. Trying to get contacts is not been waiting you talk to a lot of people to get to the right contact. Shumi has been highly involved in getting to different brokers to get information. Your perception of waiting that the postman will come with a letter with information to deliver is a misconception, so please bear with us has this has not been an easy one.--Luisaserra 17:04, 13 June 2010 (UTC)

All the same Luisa not all members are busy running around trying to get the required infor. Three people in a group should be able to beacuse doing assignments hurriedly is a good recipe for poor marks as we have seen in our assignments. Its not like people did not know what to do and how to do it but time factor was the major stumbling block. I still persist guys do the SOW asap such that we know and see the foundation.

Jeremiah, Akachi & Evelyn are you saying one person does the assignment? If so it is very dangerous because it will be easily discernable that it was done by one person. It should be a hybrid of ideas.

Hove its one person who writes the stuff, the other guys have their sections, but I am leading, and have a main chubnk of the assignment. Its not a one man job - even you, we hope when our drfat goes out, you will respond with the same zest!!!

You can not use the same because the intended information is different. Kago has a problem with his internet, however he will probably be able to email it to all of you before Tuesday. Its true we need to be swift in dispatching the questions.

I have circulated the SOW during the week, and will have a draft ready for the subgroup to scrutinise by 19 June 2010. Managed to download a number of articles on the the subject so I should have enough to go on for now. Please see question 2, which I copy "2. share the views of your group on the impact of national culture on leadership, particularly in South Africa. 30 MARKS ". WOuld it be possible for the bigger group to provide their insight so that we can incorporate our differenct view points?

Progress...

  • We managed to obtain the share prices for Uganda Clay over the past 7 years from a local stockbroker
  • We've managed to establish a contact at Uganda Clays. Luisa should get us an appointment soon.
  • We have a meeting with the Finance Manager from Rennaisance Stockbrokers (Uganda). Our plan is to obtain more market information (ie market returns), compare their valuation methods with ours, obtain advice on valuation techniques and any other info on Uganda Clays

Challenges...

  • We're still to obtain financials on Uganda Clays; Uganda Clays has no website.

thanks. if it is a listed company, the information should be available on the stock exchange where they are listed, and the information should be made available to the public, so their public relations or communications department should be able to assist.

I hear you Evelyn...The Uganda Stock Exchange is still fairly young and even public info is not so public....We'll make a plan though.

I am on standby. I suggest you perhaps make your drafts available throughout so that I can run it by this friend of mine. He is a risk manager at a parastatal and has indicated that he will assist where he can. SO if we run it by him early on, he might be able to comment on whether we are on the right track. I will use whatever contacts i have to assist us in this, if it is fine with you.

We should get the financialls Hove....Luisa's contact is the Finance Director and we're trusting he'll have them. I agree that Evelyn should parallel run the info requests from Tiger...just as a back up. Not to set up a meeting, but just to request info on share prices. financials etc

Evelyn, we are trying to get info on the local stock exchange on the companies. Shumi is actually doing that. I do not know how far your friend has been with the Tiger brand data. He has indicated that he will be able to assist, however, people will be working flexi hours for the duration of the world cup so we will have to be patient. I will be able to follow up tomorrow only. You also need to indicate whether we need to make an appointment to see the Risk manager at the company or perhaps forward interview questions and a draft of the assignment so that we request the input from the company. There are no guarantees of course, but the sooner we try and engage the company, the better.
