I have no problem with the consultation on the Assignment. That's Lions Teamwork. Jeremiah is well seasoned in this area so you can drop him questions as well. As stated earlier, Test time is around the corner so lets make this easy for all of us and do a first time good job and get it out of the way! These are my closing remarks. You're free to comment and close off as you wish. (: Remember Deadline for Submission - Wednesday 15 April)
Strategy Assigment
We STILL dont have any company to conduct our strategy assignment on. Any ideas and offers?
That's a tough one mate and it's been worrying me. I'll let you know if I have any ideas. My employer is not adequate though. --Shumimlingo 19:22, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Victor i think we need a corporation/ or an international company. Unfortunately Kago has signed off. Iam wondering if he can help us with Nokia?
Hi Victor, can we take any company that is well known and we can download from the company website? i believe all of us will be struggling in getting information but the one in websites is different. I thought about this when I opened the pick & pay website, what do the Lions think?--Luisaserra 19:25, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
This can be a good idea. WIll have to check though whether we will not be breaching any assignment rules.
Will write to all of you during the week.
Thanks I feel more positive that we have some avenues to explore, Victor as the project leader on this one, do take the lead. Good nite everyone, thanks for an exceptionally run and participated meeting.--Luisaserra 19:36, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
KG and Victor. Questions or Clarifications?
Taurai and Akachi – Are you ok with this section? --Shumimlingo 18:57, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Jeremiah, Shungu, Luisa… Any clarifications on what is needed on this section? --Shumimlingo 18:17, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi Shumi, I have down loaded the Financial reports for 2006,2007,2008 from the website. I would like to know from you if the BS & IS for the 3 periods, needs to be detailed to what level? all accounts to be shown or some main accounts what is your input on this?--Luisaserra 18:24, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Good to hear you've downloaded. I've got them as well and I think the detail there is fair enough. On the 2006 I/S there are about 14 classifications which isn't bad. If you don't agree perhaps you can idnetify the accounts you want to leave out and then we discuss the materiality together. Otherwise my opinion is to include all.
ok, I will do that. the first task is really to copy and paste from the annual financial reports and put the 3 periods in a format that can be compared, then analyse the trends, isn't it?--Luisaserra 18:34, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
yeah, but the format is called a Common Size Analysis ie you put everything as a percentage of sales so you'll have 3 years of percentages of sales. I'll forwad you a doc from the lecturer that will help jus incase you didn't see it on EDS. In addition you're working with an expert called Jeremiah so you'll be fine!! --Shumimlingo 18:37, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, do send the document from the lecturer and we will see how we progress.clear from my side--Luisaserra 18:39, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
hi shumi lam having challenges on down loading the assignment but l will keep trying if worst comes to worst l will raise an alarm on tuesday 14/04/09.--Shungunyoni 19:08, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Hermanus and Utang. Any comments? This is your subtask --Shumimlingo 18:38, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Is our subtask basically a theoretical overview? I will be honest I haven't started work on it. Any insight would be welcome.
Hi Utang, this is largely a quantitative assignment so there are calculations to do. You will be calculating the profitability and efficiency ratio's and interpreting them. After calculating the ratios the general areas you will need to interpret are: What was attained by picknpay; What purpose does the ratio serve (ie what does it seek to measure); Determine whether it’s an improvement in comparison to previous years (2006 – 2008); Suggest possible reasons for this attainment; Apply the attainment to its industry (Retail business; These are general guidelines and you can consider more if necessary. I'll allocate you a partner soon. From conversation, I know this is not your strong point so the earlier you start...the better!!
I like that! --Shumimlingo 19:06, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi Guys,
Shumi, I a so sorry to be doing this to you, but it looks as if I will be defering my studies until next year. I will have a definite answer by the end of the week for all. but for now I recomend not relying on me for ths assignment.
Thanks for letting us know...i'll see how we can reorganise and I'll advise of the new structure. No need to apologise...we've just incurred quite a big loss on you. --Shumimlingo 18:51, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi Hermanus, sorry to hear about this. please think positive things will turn around.--Luisaserra 18:53, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi Lions, this is me signing in. Hove you're an early bird. Hows Gabs?
Thanks all. I am online now. Kay go, thanks for starting this - you are truely a wiki professional now.
Welcome all.
we are brimming with life and hilarity! Yoou sounded like an MC. Loved that.
hie lions sorry i missed the greater part of the meeting l had no power. happy easter holidays.--Shungunyoni 19:03, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Welcome guys. The meeting is open. Has everyone gone through the Marketing document and submitted comments?
I have not submitted comments yet. I however concure with most comments made. I beleive strongly that we need to up the questioniar response rate to about 25. This may require "duplication" of the responses of some questionairs in a manner not to skew the responses. We may be negatively affected in the long run if this is not done.
I second Victor's idea, on my email today I expressed that concern, I believe there is no harm in doing that.--Luisaserra 18:10, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
I commented earlier on the same issue and I agree with you guys. Kago and Akachi can sort this out outside of Wiki (our official minutes!)--Shumimlingo 18:13, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
we tried to disguise it by using percentages, we were unable to solicit more responses sorry, but are you suggesting we Robert Mugabe the numbers?
Yes, the real african way to get to the right number, glad the picture is clear--Luisaserra 18:15, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Kago i still strongly feel we are not doing ouselves a favour by failing to follow a simple basic requirement of availing the required number of respondents. How bad were the other two which made you guys disqualify them?
Well, not really RM the numbers but "replicate" them evenly may do. Refer to Shumi's response above http://www.wikieducator.org/Thread:Final_Comments_on_Marketing_Draft_Assignment_(7)
Hi Shumi, I have read the document and I am ok with it. I sent an email early in the day to all Lions.--Luisaserra 18:08, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
Hi Shumi
I have sent through my comments earlier today did you receive it?
Yeah Hermanus, I'm sure Kago received your comments as well. --Shumimlingo 18:15, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
