The Libre Declaration was first drafted in May 2007 at LibreMeeting2007 on the basis of broad topics discussed.
Part of the inspiration for doing this was the development of the Declaration on the South African National Strategy on Free and Open Source Software and Open Content (“National Open Source Strategy”) which led to the South African national policy - see relevant documents on SITA's site.
Ideas for updates or where to find some are welcome :-)
Consider the following:
- Barcelona Charter for Innovation Creativity and Access to Knowledge - Libre Interpretation and check the docs on which it was based (which have been updated).
- The title should probably be "Libre Knowledge Declaration". The next version "Libre Declaration" which can go broader (see for example Be Libre).
- Pablo Machón: "resources" suggests scarcity. How about "works"? Though we want the word to apply to (web) services and applications. - Kim Tucker 12:09, 7 March 2012 (UTC)
