Skills required for staff working in the tourism industry/Activities/Equal Employment Opportunities
Objectives
To gain an understanding of the value of providing a flexible work environment
Activity
There are certain legislative policies closely connect to the recruitment and selection of staff eg. Human Rights Act, Employment Relations Act, Privacy Act and Equal Employees Opportunities
Employers are coming to realise the value of employees leading rich and complex lives outside their working hours. By providing flexible work options and other work-life initiatives, employers can help ensure people can contribute effectively at work and meet their non-work commitments.
Task
As an employer in the often stressful industry of tourism you want to provide some flexible employment options for your staff so that they can create a healthy and rewarding work life balance.
Provide a list of options that you as an employer would see as viable for staff, and explain how as an employer you could operate a business (such as a hotel) around these options.
