Recommendation 25 Digital literacy in early childhood education

Recommendation 25. We recommend that the Government undertake research and consider policies in relation to digital literacy in early childhood education.
Comment: ECE children have demonstrated that they can use tablets and there is an increasing supply of suitable software.
However children in this age range have very varied abilities and each student needs devices appropriate to their abilities – and perhaps only parents can choose the most suitable devices. It is also to be noted that most ECE institutions are PTEs and will make their own decisions.
