Symposium Details

When: Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th November 2014
Where: University of Tasmania, Hobart, Australia
Meeting venue: Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS), Waterfront Building, 20 Castray Esplanade, Battery Point TAS 7004
Who should attend: Senior executives, policy makers, other government and educational decision makers, educators, researchers, OER advocates and practitioners in general.

Aims of the Symposium

The Australian National Symposium on OER will provide to participants nationally and internationally the opportunity

  • to raise awareness on the issues around OER;
  • to network with national and international advocates and experts;
  • to showcase their institutional OER projects and/or initiatives;
  • to build communities of practices through collaboration and exchange of ideas around this topic.

Institutional Showcase - Call for Abstracts

We would like to invite Australian educational institutions to showcase their OER project or initiative at the Australian National Symposium on OER. There will be a time in the Symposium program dedicated to the Institutional Showcases, but places are limited, so please make sure you send you abstract by 30th September 2014.

Institutional Showcases details

Presentation time: 15 minutes each institution (10 minutes for presentations and 5 minutes for questions)

Abstract Length: no more than 250 words

Deadline: 30th Sep 2014

Accommodation

Here is a list of suggested accommodation options. Symposium participants might be able to get better rates than those below, if the accommodation is booked via your university Travel Agent as most of these hotels and apartments have corporate rates. Also, please make sure you book your accommodation early as Salamanca Place (and surroundings) is a popular tourist destination during this time of the year in Hobart. There will also be at least two other conferences happening at the same time as the Symposium, so it is important that you have your accommodation secured.
