Which technology can be used for e-assessment?
Many technologies can be used for e-assessment, and in tertiary education institutions these are often located in the LMS, for example, self-marking quizzes in Moodle or Blackboard. Some teachers grade student contributions in discussion forums. In addition to using an LMS for assessment activities, some courses require students to maintain an electronic portfolio (or e-portfolio). This might be on an external site, or using mobile technologies.
Some organisations might utilise online tools provided by a publisher's website for assessment activities. The University of Canterbury had to adapt to enable students to complete formative assessments when a series of earthquakes made face-to-face contact impossible. They used a Pearson Publishing product, MasteringBiology. Crisp's resource will provide you with many more ideas around technologies (or technology tools) that can be used for assessment. |
