Design for Screen 1 – Web has been developed by staff in the School of Design of Otago Polytechnic.

This is a 12 week, level 5, 15 credit course accredited by NZQA, and is part of the Bachelor of Design (Communication). There are 150 learning hours in total, comprised of 72 directed learning hours and 78 self-directed learning hours. You are welcome to enroll formally in the three year Bachelor degree, or enroll formally in a Postgraduate Diploma. For 2013, classes are scheduled on Mondays from 9:00 to 12:00 (Group 1) and 13:00 to 16:00 (Group 2) in room H523.

The course is an introduction to web design for those who are interested in website development. No previous knowledge of web design or coding is expected. The course is presented in two 6-week parts, the first six weeks introduces HTML coding and web page structure, information production. The second six weeks builds on the learning, and introduces CSS3 styling, page design, web colour, typography and layout, and responsive design.
