CRODeL/Research designs/Data analysis
By the end of this topic, you will be able to understand various data analysis techniques.
Data analysis is a necessary skill in research. Although you may wish to use an external data analyst for your research project, you still need analytical skills for a clearer understanding of the data and subsequent results. This topic aims to bridge that gap.
Begin by engaging with the three embedded PDF documents below. The first PDF introduces you to qualitative methodologies while the second focuses on quantitative approaches. The third PDF houses a useful guide to analysing quantitative data in SPSS using some of the more common statistical techniques. Once you've gone through these documents, watch the first video listed in the resources below; Fundamentals of qualitative research methods, followed by the second and third videos; Introduction to Quantitative analysis, and Sampling techniques for quantitative studies. A brief video that includes mixed methods has also been added. Lastly, engage with the learning activity.
You'll need approximately 3.2 hours to engage with the content on this topic.

Activity 3.3.1 <Detail>: Using the resources above, think about an appropriate data analysis strategy that would best answer your research question(s). Once decided, articulate your data analysis plan. Complete this crucial activity by writing up your data analysis strategy/plan in your draft. If you are writing an article (and not a proposal), then complete your analysis during this crucial activity as well, and include your results in your draft.
