The participants had in mind the scenario of a school leaver having to become the teacher for the next year's intake. Typically this would be at the level of matric or O-level. This is a real scenario in Africa where there is a critical shortage of teachers and a high percentage of learners (in excess of 75% in Sub-Saharan Africa) lose out on an upper secondary education.
The aim is to develop a learning resource to help such individuals rise to the challenge.
A good time to do this course is while doing the subject you intend to teach (next year or in future).
