Course Introduction
Hi all!
Welcome to the short course on Wound Care Management.
This short course was planned to give the learners a basic understanding of wound care management in general. More specifically it gives the learners opportunity to understand the wound healing process, potential changes in the body with persistent wounds, how the human body react to different stages in the impairment of skin integrity, and finally how people are being cared for through the humanitarian perspective. However, the ultimate goal is to enable students to acquire necessary knowledge and skills to take care of people with any kind of wound by helping them to regain their well-being through successful wound healing process

Objective:
Introduction to Wound Care Management. This short course gives the basic knowledge required by the students to proper management of wound care.

Target group:
Final year students in Diploma in Nursing

Delivery Method:
Open education materials are provided and the students are advised to refer and study them properly to get ready for their exams. Online meetings will be held every Thursdays from 9.00 AM to 10.00 AM.

Participants are highly encouraged to engage in dialogue discussions follow the threads in the Discussion Forum.

Teacher Directions:
Please refer the source 1 so that you will get to know about the objectives of this short course.In a sense it will encourage you to complete the course successfully because knowing what you could gain from this course motivate you to pursue your learning.Referring the learning resource 2 will enable you to understand the holism which is the core of nursing practice.Then you will be oriented to understand patients as persons so that you will be treating patients with wounds not the wounds of patients. When you refer the source 3 you will gain the knowledge of pathophysiology pertaining to the wound healing process. This understanding will help you to make proper nursing diagnosis of your patients result in good wound care management. so you are thoroughly advice to go through this material.

In terms of the web links video clips given pertaining to wound management will help you to improve your practical skills. Please watch them and get ready to simulate in the lab before you access to real clinical setting.Post your ideas and insight you gain to the discussion forum to share the knowledge with peers
