CIS 89A Syllabus ** April 2002

Email: taylorvalerie@fhda.edu Course Information: Fundamentals of web page design and creation - designing, encoding, and maintaining web pages on the WWW using HTML. Two hours lecture, three hours laboratory

Course Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

Create and revise web pages using HTML Browse the web to locate and research information at different sites Upload and download HTML text files to and from web servers Advisories: CAOS 70AA (Elementary Keyboarding, English Writing 100B and Reading 91 or ESL 4


Grading: Exams and programs will be weighted as follows - 60 points Quizzes (2 quizzes - 30 points each), 40 points Final project, 80 points labs (8 assignments - 10 points each), 20 points Memo To Self (10 MTS - 2 points each), 120 points total

Grades will be assigned on the basis of total points approximately as follows:

90-100% as A, 80-89% as B, 70-79% as C, 60-69% as D, and below 60% as F.

  3. Images and Multimedia
  4. Tables
  5. Frames
  6. Forms
  7. Styles
  8. JavaScript overview
  9. Readability & Meta tags
  10. Final Project


Final Projects

You may help each other but you must do your own work. Web pages must be created with Wordpad, Notepad or SimpleText. Web editors and other word processing programs may not be used.
