My personal details

My name is Maureen Agena, I am a trained Citizen Journalist, new media enthusiast and trainer. I currently work with Women of Uganda Network (WOUGNET)as the information sharing and Networking officer. WOUGNET is a non-governmental organization whose Mission is to promote and support the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) among women and women organizations in Uganda. I also currently moderate the discussion group (dgroup) for Citizen Journalists in Uganda. I hold a bachelor of science with honors in Information Technology, and i am currently perusing a Master of Science in Information systems.

My passion

My passion for new media and community development earned her an opportunity to work as a Remote intern for the ICT and Innovation programme at The technical centre of Agriculture and rural cooperation ACP-EU (CTA), Netherlands. I have been able to join this wiki and learn more about wikis because of a web 2.0 learning opportunity in Molo that was made financially possible by CTA.

Web 2.0 Learning Opportunity in Molo, Kenya

The web 2.0 learning opportunity forms part of CTA initiatives that support development partners in networking, accessing and diseminating information more effectively. I must say that it is an awesome event that has enlightened me about the power of using the web for development. During the session on wikis, I learned that they are very good in collaborative development and are not vandalized because of the security from the community
