Technology that helps in ocean expeditions

There are 5 ways to discover the ocean, diving is being the most basic way. When the depths aren't low or conditions are safe, divers are able to descend into the water to explore the marine. Other tools such as submersibles and system & sensors, allow us to explore and collect samples from unexplored ecosystem. Vessels and communication technologies are able to share and receive information about the unexplored depth at a fast speed to divers and scientists. These are the current technologies that will aid mankind to explore the mysterious ocean.
Teams that advanced to Shell Ocean Discovery XPRIZE
These 9 teams, each with different nationalities and races has been advanced to finals to solve humanities grand challenges and improve technologies for a faster and higher-resolution expedition. Each team has developed different types of innovative technologies from autonomous robot drones to low-cost underwater vehicles, to improve the abilities to gather,visualize and interpret deep ocean data.

Exploring ocean is a very dangerous task, that is why ocean is only 5% discovered. There are many factors that why exploring the ocean has great challenge, it requires sophisticated equipment, large budgets, brave and experienced personnel, and permissions from governments at national and international levels. Deep sea divers also face strange sea creatures, high water pressure, equipment failure and etc. Modern sonar detection systems which is better than satellite can mapped the ocean floor up to 15%. However, underwater vehicles are needed to detect objects and features of the sea floor for better resolution.

There is less than 1,643 people in the U.S. has the same first name(Jun Jie) as mine, My last name(Lai) is not quite popular in the U.S. as it is ranked 2148. Although there is a popular Singaporean singer that has the same first name, but our last name is not the same, I think most people know him by his stage name, JJ Lin.

Warm Up America (WUA) is a non-profit organization that is aimed to help people that are less fortunate than us. Everyone can volunteer by knitting afghans or other knitted item that keep the person warm and donate it to the organization (although there is a small amount of shipping fee). Volunteer are able to learn how to knit at the same time. This organization will then donate those knitted items to various communities and social service agencies upon request.

This article suggested using 2 Factor Authentication like most of the hack prevention articles. Never input your bank info on a public computer or public network as they contain malicious software that could obtain your data. If you've been hacked, the article suggested to reset the passwords and run a scan on the computer using an anti-virus program. For my suggestion, I would suggest not to cloud save or upload tons of image of ourselves, and also not to input personal info through a non-trustworthy websites that has no encryption or link that doesn't show "HTTPS".

Transforming CO2 into Valuable Products

CO2 can be split into Carbon and Oxygen but it would require a lot of energy, and also produces more CO2 than it is separated. In this articles stated that researcher has found a way to split CO2 into Oxygen molecule and Carbon atom by using vacuum ultraviolet light (VUV). VUV was provided in the form of a laser shooting a beam at CO2. Thus, it doesn't rely on biological approach like plants and trees for photosynthesis. Though it only split 5% of the CO2 molecules into O2 and C while the rest becomes CO and O.
