IGNOU REGIONAL CENTER JAIPUR

Indira Gandhi National Open University is a central University established by an Act of the Parliament of the Govt. of India in 1985. It offers programe through Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode to the disadvantaged, deprived and marginalized section of the society. It aims at inclusive growth and development in the society with inclusive education. As on date this university offers 253 different academic programmes with a network of 67 Regional Centres across the country and 43 overseas centres.

Regional Centre for Rajasthan was established on 16th December 1987 in Kota vide statue of section 5 (2) xxxi of IGNOU Act, and later in 1990 this Regional Centre office was shifted to Jaipur, The State Capital of Rajasthan. From 1990 to April, 2002 it functioned from rented office premises. It was on 1st may, 2002 that we were able to shift to IGNOU’s own building at Mansarovar, Jaipur.

Since the inception of this Centre number of Study Centres and Programmes has been steadily increasing. At present there are 39 active Learner support Centres of IGNOU located in different institutions of higher learning/NGOs in 20 different districts of Rajasthan.

Dr Manoj Kumar Dash, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Jaipur

Dr Manoj Kumar Dash Joined as Regional Director at IGNOU REGIONL CENTRE, JAIPUR in 14th July 2014. His primary focus is to strengthen Student Support Services at the Regional Centre and at all LSCs level in the region and also making educational opportunity accessible to masses in the whole territorial jurisdiction (20 Districts) of IGNOU RC Jailpur with Technology Mediated (ICTs) learner support services.

Prior to this responsibility at Jaipur Dr. Dash was working as Regional Director at IGNOU REGIONAL CENTRE DELHI 3 (DWARKA) from May 2011 - July 2014. During his tenure at RC Delhi 3 he initiated many new and unique initiatives like Student Counselling Cell, Public information Cell at the Regional Centre to strengthen Student Support Services. Under his guidance separate sections (Admission, Re-Registration, Assignment, Examinations, Practical and Project and General Enquiry) were created to address the grievances of students through single window mechanism.

Dr Dash implemented Technology-mediated support services for students like; i) ONLINE LINK for STUDENTS QUICK CONTACT; ii) ONLINE LINK FOR ISSUE OF CONFIRMATIO LETTER CUM MONEY RECEIPT; iii) ONLINE LINK FOR ISSUE OF STUDY MATERIAL TRACKING ; iv) ONLINE LINK FOR OBTAINING MONTHLY MONITORING REPORT FROM LSCs; v) COMPUTERIZED INVENTRY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR STUDY MATERIALS AND SALE OF FORMS; and vi) EXTENSIVE USE OF SMS IN all activities to reach at door steps of each student in the territorial jurisdiction RC Delhi 3 during his tenure.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Dash obtained the degree of Ph. D in Education from Utkal University, Odisha; M. Ed. and M. Phil in Education from Berhampur University Odisha; M A in Distance Education from IGNOU; M. Sc. in Chemistry from Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu.

He acquired Professional Qualifications like; P. G. Diploma in Special Education; P. G. Diploma in Guidance and Counseling; P. G. Diploma in Higher Education; and P. G. Diploma in Distance Education from different universities and currently perusing D. Litt. in Inclusive Education from Berhampur University, Odisha.

Dr. Dash started his professional career as Asst Teacher from De-Paul School, Berhampur, Odisha in 1996 and subsequently Joined as Lecture in Education, in Tara Tarini College, Purushottampur (Gm) under Behrampur University, Orissa in 1999. He has also been working as a visiting faculty of M. P. BhoJ Open University for Progammes like B.Ed. (Sp. Education) and D. Ed. (Sp. Education) since 1998.

In 2005 he joined at DEP-SSA, IGNOU as a Consultant and subsequently appointed as Programme Officer in 2007 in the same unit. During his tenure at DEP-SSA he was associated with training of Teachers and Teacher Educators through ODL mode in collaboration with SCERTs and SPOs of different State Governments across the country and also instrumental in implementing Capacity Building activities(Orientation Programmes, Refresher Programmes, Workshops, Seminar, Conferences) in terms of planning, designing, development and implementation of need based training programmes/ training modules (Print and Electronic) for the capacity building of in-service teachers, trainers, master trainers and state level resource persons.

During his tenure at DEP-SSA Dr Dash worked with all States Governments across the country in general and in northern states, eastern states, southern states and N-E states in particular. He was extensively associated with training of teachers and teacher educators through blended mode integrating Teleconferencing, Interactive Radio Counselling, and Multimedia with Face-to-Face component.

Dr Dash is also keenly associated in Research Work, Impact and Feedback Studies in various issues of School Education in General and Teacher Education in particular. He contributed significantly in research in the field of Technology-Mediated Teacher Education programmes in various States like; Rajasthan, Uttaranchal, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu in collaboration with concerned State Government.

He has to his credit 44 research papers/articles published in different journals of national and international repute in different areas of teacher education; Contributed 18 units to different SLMs for training of teachers and teacher educators and to different study materials of IGNOU and Rajsthan State Open University.

Besides he has published four books in Education in areas like; Educational Technology, Inclusive Education, Community Based Rehabilitation, and Primary Education in India. Currently working in the field of Inclusive Education for facilitating and promoting education of differently abled children at school level

Dr Dash completed one Minor Research Project under UGC and several other Research Projects under DEP-SSA, IGNOU-MHRD, Govt. of India Project and other research projects in collaboration with different State Govt. He coordinated several Regional and National Seminars and participated in many national and international seminars/conferences and presented papers.

His area of specialization is Teacher Education, Education Technology, Measurement and Evaluation, Research Methodology, Inclusive Education and Teacher Education through ODL Mode. He is a member of several academic organizations. He is deeply associated with WEB-BASED teaching learning process in training and capacity building activities to provide Quality and Meaningful Education to All.

STUDENT COUNSELLING CELL:IGNOU RC JAIPUR

This is created recently at the Regional Centre and started functioning in all working days from Monday-Friday between 10AM-4PM. This is meant for addressing issues related to PRE-ADMISSION and POST ADMISSION matter of students and providing them Expert Advice to resolve their issues, if any as a means of single window system. It aims at reducing the gap between the students and the university.

OBJECTIVES

1. To address the problems/difficulties of students in support of admission to different programmes offered by the university(Pre-Admission Counselling)

2. To address all issues of students in support of their programmes immediately after the confirmation of their admission and during the course of continuing in the programme

3. To reduce the gap between the distance learners of the university and the Regional Centre/University.

PUBLIC INFORMATION CELL (PIC):IGNOU RC JAIPUR

PUBLIC INFORMATION CELL (PIC) has been created at the ground floor of the Regional Centre for easy access of public/visitors to all information about the University, about the Regional Centre (RC Jaipur), about the Learner Support Centres (LSCs) under RC Jaipur etc. It acts as a University guide for the public/visitors.

Objectives

1. To provide information about Ignou, Programmes of Ignou, various features of Ignou and important features of the Regional Centre Jaipur to public and students visiting to the Regional Centre.

2. To promote activities of the University and Regional Centre in the region for the best interest of all section of the society 3. To develop a means of easy accessibility of public and students to the activities of the University, Regional Centre and Learner support Center also Important Features

The following facilities are available at the Public Information Cell:

1. Availability of Information Broacher of the University and the Regional Centre

2. Availability of Ignou Profile, Students Hand Book & Prospectus and all important promotional materials of the University

STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMES:IGNOU RC JAIPUR

A new initiative is taken at IGNOU REGIONAL CENTRE JAIPUR for capacity building of staff of the Regional Centre. This is meant to expose the staff of RC to variety of initiatives taken by the university from time to time to facilitate student support services. At the same time is planned to provide a platform to the staff member of the Regional Centre to update and upgrade them in various skill based activities pertaining to their area of work. The programme aims at developing a healthy atmosphere the Regional Centre to promote meaningful and productive discussion and interaction among the staff members. Provision has also been made to invite experts from local educational institutions as and when possible and address the staff members on areas related to motivation, stress management, time management etc. The ultimate aim of the whole programe was to develop work efficiency of internal staff of RC and enable them to serve the student better.

The programme is being organized once in fortnight from 4:30PM-6.00PM at the Conference Room of the Regional Centre Jaipur

Objectives:

1. To Discuss and interact with the staff members about various initiatives of the University

2. To expose the staff members to verities of areas that leads to improve their work efficiency.

3. To enable them to develop appropriate work culture in the office of the Regional Centre.

4. To provide them a platform to share their difficulties and problems with other colleagues.

5. To develop a sprite of confidence in them towards work and good work habits.

TECHNOLOGY MEDIATED STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES: IGNOU RC Jaipur
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS

7) STUDENT COUNSELLING CELL: Difficulties if any, you can send E. Mail to the concerned Officer In charge to get a reply within 24 hours. You can also visit to the Regional Centre in any working day from Monday-Friday and take up the matter at the STUDENT COUNSELLING CELL ( Ground Floor) between 10:00 AM-5:00 PM with your valid Student Card and take up your problem/issue with the Sr Academic Officers of the Regional Centre (Regional Director/Asst. Regional Directors)

8) PUBLIC INFORMATION CELL: In all working days (Monday-Friday between 10:00 AM -5:00 PM) one can obtained General Information from the Public Information Unit (Counter 5, Ground Floor) of the Regional Centre through Sr Administrative Officers (Asst. Registrar/Section Officer/other Administrative staff).

9) Suggestion/Complaint Box & Suggestion/Complaint Register is available with the Reception, at the RC (Ground Floor).

One should mention En. No, Programme code, and contact detail like Mob No. & E. Mail ID with complete communication addresses also in his/her application in support of complaint/suggestion. Without of which it will not be entertained. Your contact detail shall be kept confidential.
