suggestions for assessments

This looks like an interesting course. Have you thought about using a wiki for participants to build each stage of their research proposals? They could contribute ideas and leave feedback for each other. Alongside this they could keep a blog where they demonstrate their understanding of the process through presenting information, discussing ideas and reflecting on their learning and the feedback on their proposal. The mark is given for the process of developing the proposal as well as the final output. I am not a fan of giving percentages for online discussion contributions, and prefer to see students' knowledge unfold in a format that they build - blog or wiki plus other tools they use in their personal learning environment.
