Ok - I have wiki open source skills - yours are complimenatary - twitter, blog and proprietary. I think you can see the potential of open source and some of the ideas that I have exposed you to. We could between us get open source into remote schools across the country. Thats if you are into some crazy collaboration with Merino man - I have no idea where this will go but initially we will need to get a basic plan sorted and work from there. Once we have the basics sorted we need to gather in some co-conspirators. You also need to log into this wiki - do you have an account? oK YOU ARE IN - this is cool - just start adding to and over my stuff - if it doesnt read well change it, delete anything you think is superfluous We can add questions and thoughts in this space - also this will log our journey.

cool i just discovered the discussion button thingee - wikis are a little bit complicated bear with me

Great one I didn't notice - I have not really used this discussion page much in the past but can see its uses for what we are attempting. We need to get some GNU/Linux into your class - the Auckland GNU/Linux Users Group may be worth hitting up??

Rekrapenator (talk)21:25, 16 October 2010

Funny I was just thinking the same thing... Do you have a contact for the AK gnu/linux user group?

Taratj (talk)04:26, 17 October 2010

Am chasing it up now. Have you used the watch tab on the top of the page - this sends alerts into your email box when the page has changed and means you can track changes. Hey can i ring you to catch up on this stuff - txt me your no and a good time to ring I am not sure about this piece doctrine and dogma are imposed - how does it link to this idea without being disparaging of others and their beliefs Also need to link up our 2 fellowships - video surveillance with the introduction of new technology - what a concept.

Just viewed Sugata Mitra vid - man its good - makes an even greater impact - need to get some of the wording from the end of the vid just before he calls the idea OUTDOCTRINATION.... Do we need another social network format for this idea beyond the wiki? Are we ready to promote this beyond those already in the loop? What needs a tidy up - i wonder about adding the sequence from the email i.e the how we go about each stage? Also how does your school have a trucking company for a name?

Wicked idea!!!! - thats what is needed - a place where educators can share their collaborative understandings of each person - yes! I remember now why I just edit below as your thread cant be seen above...

Check this out Schema Therapy - it is melding many thoughts of phsychology into one schema...MIE is a direct take on this concept...

I think we should throw the idea past Wayne too - can't see there being a problem? Choice I have an ebook version of the book Puti has. I'll hook you up with a password so u can access it too. All I need now is time to read and write.

Time - big prob - was going to chase up a paper version of the book would be a good opportunity to see if I can cope with reading a book online...

As you can see I have 'fixed' this a wee bit. If the Mitra/Robinson collaboration eventuates we can do it through MIE and kiwischool. I do still like the idea of getting the most out of the ewaste by benefiting digitally remote schools. I wonder too if there are digitally remote classroom within schools. There has been a wee bit of talk in twitter of late from teachers who would LOVE more computers in their rooms, so I thought that fitted in really well with Part Three (which is now Part one) making Part Two, part three...

Collaboration

Ok - need to point out the boogers - MW picked up on the remote - you did too but I never got what it was that you were saying. When you changed it I then got the email of changes so i could see what it was that you had changed. I have set the page to watch! Hope this makes sense.

Yes this is all great - I wonder whether this could be the way that schools with teachers requiring more computers they can hassle to get free ones via ewaste/open source - this also needs to be written in a manner that is not seen as passing on junk. I would imagine in most schools there are classes wanting more computers imagine if these teachers could bypass their heirarchy and get them for free! I have 6 network ports so therefore I want 6 computers 2 new ones the school supplies the remainder are free from.....??? Happy to keep this buzzing along in the back ground..

Yup, that's the vision! It's just a matter of time really. I think it would be very possible to acheive this, but I want to work with kids and not in a warehouse redistributing computers... We need more people to play on this. More teachers, more tertiary educators (with power) more Open Source people ... I possibly need more patience. When I am Minister of Education I'll pass it as a law overnight

Make the law! I am embroiled with school painters who are creating lead dust mayhem, PD gangs, moving stuff out of our sold house and a wedding this weekend....back seat back seat - aarrhhg!

Social Literacy - the problem with replying in this format is you loose the previous thread....anyway have a squizzy and tell me whether you think this works or is needed or adds depth??

I think it's very relevant - wow the things you do at that school of yours!?! What I have taken from it is a very good argument to have our 2011 kids very aware of what and why we are doing the open source thing so that they are active participants. Do you have a definition of experiential learning? Nice photo too...
