UNIT STANDARD 5951

As on NZQA website Unit 5951 Describe the concepts of information systems development (Version 7, Level 3, Credit 3)

Outcome 1:

Describe a computer information system’s deployment life cycle.

  • ER 1.1 The deployment life cycle is described in terms of each stage in the cycle
  • ER 1.2 The stages in the deployment life cycle are described in terms of the procedures for each stage.
  • ER 1.3 The stages in the deployment life cycle are described in terms of the possible issues to be addressed at each stage.

Range a minimum of one possible issue for each stage is described.

Outcome 2:

Describe the acquisition of computer information systems.

  • ER 2.1 The procedures for each stage of the acquisition of computer information systems are described in terms of organisational requirements.
  • ER 2.2 The acquisition of computer information systems is described in terms of possible issues to be addressed during acquisition.

Range: a minimum of two possible issues are described.

  • ER 2.3 The description identifies possible suppliers for computer information systems in terms of their strengths and weaknesses.

Range: a minimum of two suppliers are identified.

Outcome 3:

Describe computer information systems support.

  • ER 3.1 The description identifies the types of support requirements that result from implementing a computer information system.
  • ER 3.2 The description identifies the types of training required by end-users as a result of implementing a computer information system.

Outcome 4:

Discuss factors affecting information systems deployment.

  • ER 4.1 Factors affecting the computer information system’s deployment process are identified and discussed in terms of their impact on the deployment.Range: Two factors.
  • ER 4.2 The consequences of changing a factor in the acquisition of computer information systems are identified and discussed in terms of their impact on the deployment.

Range: Two factors.
