  3. Describe the aims and objectives of Federation
  4. Account for the collapse of the Federation


INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES

  1. Students will be asked to give examples of how they co-operate in the home and in the community
  2. They will then be asked to identify methods of co-operation at the national level
  3. A list of bodies set up to allow for regional co-operation will be given to students
  4. A brief introduction of Federation will be given by the teacher

Students will discuss in groups:

  • What did "One from ten leaves Zero" really mean for the Federation?
  • Do you agree with what Dr.Williams did?
  • Would you have done the same thing?

Integration is co-operation.
It means working together as countries within the West Indies.
The Federation was the first attempt at regional integration.
There were minimal benefits to those involved.

  1. List the benefits gained by the smaller states in the Federation.
  2. Explain the disadvantages of Federation to Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.
