Introduction Project Management - 1st Meeting

Notes from meeting with Otago Polytechnic team - 1 September 2016

  1. Attendance: Ray O'Brien, Claire Goode, Phil Osborne and Wayne Mackintosh
  2. Reviewed project planning documentation
  3. Discussed the design and development approach
  4. Confirmed that
    1. The course will focus on conventional project planning methodology (i.e Milestones, tasks, Gantt charts, resource allocations etc - Not Scrum, Kanban etc.)
    2. With regards to project planning exercise learners will produce an output which contains the key elements, eg Gantt chart and resource allocations (eg pdf rather than source files from project planning software.)
    3. Micro-courses will be developed as independent components so that they could be taken in any sequence.
  5. Confirmed dates for local design sprints - First sprint scheduled for Wednesday 7 September 2016.
  6. Wayne to post Doodle poll for first group meeting targeting the week starting 12 September 2016.
  7. Agreed that we would start with the Planning a project micro course (IPM103)
    • Team will populate ideas for in the spreadsheet story board (activities, resources, learning challenges) before the sprint.
