What's it about?

The nature of teamwork is changing in the face of rapidly increasing cultural diversity in local, national and global online learning and work contexts. Collaborative learning and learning networks are two creative approaches that have been shown to support learning across cultural and disciplinary borders. This course will help you develop essential intercultural attitudes, knowledge and skills to create positive team learning experiences for yourself and others.

In this course you will learn how to:

  • Support team development in intercultural contexts
  • Apply a variety of cooperative, collaborative and culturally responsive learning methods
  • Develop team learning plans in your personal learning and work contexts.
  • Familiarize with various social media and collaborative software applications

What's involved?

Learners will join an online community of educators interested in facilitating team learning in intercultural adult learning contexts. This is an applied learning experience in which you will work on team projects using evidence-based promising practices.

The course is online, uses some open technologies, and includes tutorials, learning activities and assignments that will help you link course concepts with skill practice. Learners will participate in a team project and develop a learning plan to address an intercultural team goal or issue in their personal work or learning contexts.

What pre-requisites should I have, if any?

Any adult learner interested in developing essential intercultural teamwork knowledge, skills and attitudes is welcome to participate in this course. You will need an Internet connection, web browsing skills, and the ability to use social media and collaborative communication software applications. Self-directed study guidance will be provided for the technologies used in the course.
