Global Issues: Concepts and Challenges is an Honours/Masters level university course, and as such requires a significant time commitment.

The amount of time that each student takes to complete the course can vary widely, but we suggest allowing 60-100 hours. This is about a day (or a little more) each week for approximately 8 weeks.

The total time commitment can be broken down as follows: Course Introduction: Students enrolled in this course only: 3 hours. Students who have previously completed 'The UN, Global Governance and Diplomacy': 1 hour.

Modules 1-12: Each module takes approximately 3 hours to complete the required activities. This typically includes approximately 1 hour of video, and approximately 2 hours of reading / exploration of websites. Optional extension activities are not included in this estimate, and may take 1 or more additional hours to complete.

Assessment tasks:

Active Online Participation: Six blogs of approximately 250 words each. Each blog may take 1-4 hours to complete.

Major Essay: It is recommended to allow at least 20 hours to complete this essay; some students may take substantially longer.

Interview: The interview itself is likely to take 20-30 mins, however students are strongly encouraged to review all course materials in preparation for the interview.
