Film Review

Name of the Film - Jane Eyre
Director - Robert Young
Genre - Gothic romance

The 1997 adaptation of the book Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is a faithful retelling of Jane's story. This movie is directed by Robert Young and starring Samantha Morton as Jane Eyre and Ciaran Hinds as Mr. Rochester.
There are many other adaptations of this film but this version is the most faithful one.
Jane, the protagonist of this story and also the narrator, tells us how she was treated in her childhood and how her journey went from childhood to adulthood. A girl who was treated poorly by her aunt and everyone she knew. Everyone thought of her as some kind of evil who needed to be punished and left alone by everyone. Despite being treated unfairly by everyone she always fought for herself. Even at that time when women were not even allowed to talk back or in front of everyone, Jane stood up for herself and fought against everyone. Strong-willed, bold and fierce, Jane Eyre is the story of a woman who fought her own battles and became independent after she fell in love with someone much older than her.
Many secrets were revealed and some mysteries were solved. The truth came out at the end about everything including the locked room Mr. Rochester. The representation of this movie is beautiful and truly connects with the novel. There are many twists and turns in this movie with a touch of romance and horror. The way gothic elements were shown is also impeccable.
This movie can be recommended to those who love watching something exciting with a touch of romance, gothic elements and a bold and powerful female lead. Those who've read "Jane Eyre" can also watch this movie to experience something similar but still a little different.
