Overview

Artistic Media and Architecture is a free micro open online course (mOOC). This course explores traditional and non-traditional mediums associated with two-dimensional artworks, the camera arts, three-dimensional artworks and traditional and modern styles of architecture.

Course Aims

This course aims to help learners:

• Acquire a basic understanding of traditional and non-traditional mediums of art.
• Acquire a basic understanding of the camera arts.
• Acquire a basic understanding of traditional and modern styles of architecture.

• Identify and describe specific characteristics of two-dimensional mediums artists use.
• Discuss the role of photography as a modern medium to record and express the visual world.
• Identify and describe the specific characteristics of three-dimensional mediums artist use.
• Explain the effects installation and performance art has on artistic experience.
• Describe and explain the traditional and modern styles of architecture.
