This needs work! Needs to acknowledge traditionally maternal cultures and the many instances of women have leadership roles - even in western civilisations.. can be still brief without the inaccuracies regarding gender..

A brief history of leadership:

At first: Power was held by the strongest ……………..……… who held power in the …………………. until he/she was………………………


Of course women held a lot of power but that was subtler.


The ancient Greeks invented Democracy by giving the ………………… to …………… but not ……………. Their model for a re………… is still used today.

But mainly The Divine Right of ..………...s and q..... prevailed.

Leadership meant a m………………- a K………….. or (reluctantly) Q…………… who became leaders by……… and relied on a strong ………… to keep them in power.

Today: many countries allow their citizens to e……………………… a g………………… as in New Zealand.
