ART APPRECIATION WORKSHOP SESSION 2

Zest, the Department of English, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya College, University of Delhi, organised the second session of the Zest Art Appreciation Workshop on the 9th of September 2021 on Zoom. Session two was conducted in two batches- 10-12 am (Second Year) and 3-5 pm (Third Year). About 70 people, including the faculty members, attended the sessions. The sessions started with the welcome address by Nandana P R, the Vice President of Zest. Dr Gunjan Gupta began by recapitulating the various forms of artworks that were shared in the previous session, that had ranged from Prehistoric Art to Modern Art followed by Contemporary Art. Several Paintings, Books and Artworks such as “The street arts” by Bansky and his “Shredding Art”, the street arts, the 3D paintings on the roads of Bangalore by An Anonymous Artist, “The Lady with an Ermine” by Leonardo Da Vinci, “Portrait of Pope Julius II” by Raphael, “Adam And Eve” by Lucas Cranach, “The Girl With The Pearl Earring” by Jan Vermeer, “Portrait Of Louis XIV” by Hyacinthe Rigaud, “Old Woman” by Goya and many such Artworks were kept in the limelight and discussed by her. Various scenes from “The Shape of Water”, a movie directed by Guillermo Del Toro and “Ernest Et Celestine”, a French animated movie by Benjamin Renner. Further in the Workshop, Dr Gunjan divided the participants into breakout rooms who then visited the Virtual Museum of MoMA. After doing so, the students joined the meet and shared their views and experiences in the virtual museum. The meet after the Question and Answers round. It culminated with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Sheena, the Treasurer of Zest.
