Week 1: Introduce Yourself: Your Name, Major / Field of Study, Future Goals and the Types of Jobs / Companies you want to work for

Getting to know your classmates is essential to building a supportive and trusting learning community. Please introduce yourself as follows:

  • Share an image/picture/audio/video that describes you
  • Explain why you chose that image
  • Tell us who you are; your field / degree; and what you want to do when you graduate
  • What do you hope to learn from this course - and why?

Week 2: Discussion

Identify a topic / trend from Sam Harris' podcast that resonates with you. What thoughts / feelings does it provoke in you? Why? How does it / will it affect you> Is there a sense of promise towards the future or injustice? Who are the leading authors in the field? What is their perspective? Do you agree / disagree? Why / Why not?

Week 3: Discussion

Many people believe the resume and traditional job applications are not as important as what you share and communicate online through blogs and social media (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn). Which social media channels do you prefer to use and why? What do you think about Jason Shem's premise on the YouTube video? Do you agree / disagree? What will you do differently to stand out and get visibility in your job search (now, in the future). Provide examples of success stories, links etc.

Week 4: Discussion

From last week's discussion - share a story about your work experience - and craft a compelling and clearer story - I am looking for tighter sentences, better grammar, active sentences, etc. Post a visual / image that speaks to you / represents your situation and why?
