My Questions

Assignments

  • Assignments in the textbook don't match the grading scheme - which is it?
    • i.e., Sales Letter in the text, but not in the Assignment criteria - IS IT THE MIDTERM PAPER INSTEAD?
  • Attendance, Class Participation and Daily Work - 10%
  • Resume and Cover Letter - 10%
  • Midterm Paper - 15%
  • Oral Presentation - 15%
  • Final Paper - 50%

Turnitin

    • How do I use it? Do I need a special account for it?
    • How do students use it? Do they need a special account for it?

YES-- it is required. You will have to use Sakai and have them submit final drafts of the major assignments there.(This is a bit redundant when using Google Docs.) You turn on Turnitin when you set up the Sakai pages in the section known as "Assignments."

  • Do we use Turnitin? Do students need to use this before submitting the assignment? If yes, does everyone use a free account, or is there an account somewhere in the Rutgers system.


Old Assignment Verbiage

  • ALL assignments must be BOTH submitted online on www.turnitin.com and printed out as a hard copy. (OR, * Unless otherwise specified, all papers must be submitted in class, on time, and in 12 point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins.)
  • All assignments are DUE THE NIGHT BEFORE CLASS @ 11:59 PM at the beginning of class. Hard copies should be brought to class.
  • Online assignments ARE to be submitted before coming to class.
  • Documents should be submitted in either .doc or .docx format. PDF FILES ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
  • Formatting: 12 point Times New Roman font with one-inch margins.
  • We will use www.turnitin.com to submit assignments.

Google Docs

All students have a Google Drive account. (Your Scarlet Email is Google Mail (Gmail) You can use Scarletmail or you own personal Gmail account for the class. Students will be asked to give their preferred email address on a Google Sheet - and a link will be sent to access the Course Folder All assignments are DUE THE NIGHT BEFORE CLASS @ 11:59 PM Some assignments are required to be submitted to www.turnitin.com beforehand.

In the folders you have, we both have permissions - who do you give permissions to? Students?

  • What if there are previous students' work there - shall I move it to another folder?
