Perception2.jpg
One has not only an ability to perceive the world but an ability to alter one's perception of it; more simply, one can change things by the manner in which one looks at them.

Watch this video Perception Makes You a Better Leader [5:45 min.], developed by ClarkMorgan Insights.

Here, Jamie Dixon discusses the concept of perceptual positioning, in terms of personal, role-taking, and objective points of view. After watching this video, think about workplace or learning scenarios where you have observed one or more of these perceptual positions in action. What does each position suggest about self-understanding and self-concept?

This second video [5:03 min.] provides an example of the Pygmalion effect. The Pygmalion effect is an example of a self-fulfilling prophecy - an important concept to understand because of the powerful influence it can have on how you present yourself to others. Its effect in the workplace is also discussed.
