This lecture will help you understand how the European Union developed as an institution. It examines the major motivations for EU integration, and how EU integration came into being. It explores how the EU process developed and evolved over time. It considers not only the enlargement of the EU, but the greater depth of integration that developed in the 1945-2014 period.
