Dear Student,

Welcome to Session 6 of World History: World War II to the Present. You can access all course materials for this micro-course on the website at anytime: http://course.oeru.org/whme103/

Congratulations on making it this far through the course! In this session we examine the global effects of the Cold War, including the atomic arms race. We consider the rise of the European Union in this period, and the terrible effects of the 'Great Leap Forward' in China. In Session 6 we also explore the aftermath of the Cold War.

How much of a threat do you think nuclear weapons continue to pose today? Should the international community be doing more to manage this threat? You may like to contribute to our course forum on this topic here: Nuclear Weapons.

Remember, its also a great idea to write a blog about your learning (and include the #whme103 course hashtag so a link appears in WEnotes), and to reflect on your learning by posting a comment on WEnotes.

Enjoy your learning,

Deborah
