Read the below primary source material. American President Woodrow Wilson presented his 'Fourteen Points' as part of a speech to US Congress in January 1918. Wilson's proposal sought to create a basis for negotiating peace and postwar reconciliation. He also proposed the establishment of a 'general association of nations' to promote lasting international peace and security. This led to the creation of the League of Nations.
