Measles is just one of the diseases that came to the New World from the Old World along with global trade.

In this learning pathway you will learn about the impact of global trade. Global trade in the 1600s led to major changes in the Atlantic world. In Europe, international trade contributed to Britain's rise as an international power, while influence shifted away from older colonial powers such as Spain and Portugal. It changed the economic relationship between East and West and changed patterns of production and consumption around the Atlantic rim. Global exchange also had a profound biological and ecological impact.

During this learning pathway you will read four articles about the impact of global trade.
