Wolf14013001
From WikiEducator
This is the largest wolf skull in our collection. Based on tooth wear we assume that it is from a very old individual. The upper canines are significantly worn down and some tooth loss had occurred during life. Bone loss associated with a missing tooth is clearly visible on the left view. The tooth wear can best be viewed by zooming in on the ventral view; for several teeth the wear extends through all layers into the pulp cavity. Wolf12092001 serves as an interesting comparison to a far younger wolf with nearly intact dentition.
