www.identi.ca is a free micro-blogging service which uses free software with the added advantage that all content is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license. This means WEs are free to share and use this content.
The OER Foundation and WikiEducator are planning to integrate microblog features in our free online courses. Kudos to Jim Tittsler, our lead software engineer, who has developed an experimental widget to embed live feeds based on hashtag searches from identi.ca.

Now any page in the wiki using the [[Category:Public Domain]] should display a "Public Domain" icon and link to the relevant page providing details on how WikiEducator manages works in the Public Domain. It is also now possible to use the Public Domain Deed (CC0) from Creative Commons for dedicating new works to the public domain by adding [[Category:CC0]] to the respective pages.
The same feature can be used for Creative Commons Attribution (CC-BY) pages by adding [[Category:CC-BY]] . This will remove the display of the default CC-BY-SA icon and link to the respective license deed.
In the absence of adding these Categories, WikiEducator assumes the default CC-BY-SA license agreed by users when posting their edits.
