Group Presentation – Planning a Workshop on Developing ODL materials

Workshop – 2 -3 days duration Course – A process to provide basic skills – leading to one month period, peer review within group and further consolidate skills.
4 key deliverables:
- Knowing your audience – participants
- Introduction & advocacy – core values, status of ODL globally
Showcase high quality ODL materials and examples
- Key features of ODL materials – look at template of units
Include objectives, feedback, summaries, tools to develop materials, intext questions, access devices, icons and their purpose, language – level and readerbility. Use and integration of media technology. (a practical intervention – ie checking that objectives are SMART)
- Production Schedules – key deliverables, tasks,timelines, stakeholders

Objectives
- Major: to create ODL materials using sound instructional design principles�
- Expose participants to the principles of ODL�
- Help learners to develop skills in the use of the relevant technologies�
- Expose participants to various instructional design models

At the end of the workshop, learners should be able to:
- Produce an instructional plan for a course�
- Structure their content using the COL instructional template/alternative pre-structured ISD templates�
- Do collaborative content authoring using appropriate software�
- Publish content on an elearning platform
