International Cooperation

Hi Claire, I too am originally from the UK - now teaching in NZ. I was thinking whether we could set up some kind of international link using wikis for the next school year. This could be subject based or even a project for a tutor group. Let me know what you think. --Beckyn 19:33, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi Becky - nice to meet you! I like your idea about setting up an international link - I'd been struggling to think about what I could do for my Learning Contract, but I think this is something I could make some contributions towards. I am not a teacher, so I don't think that subject-specific content would be my strength, but something project based that links similar themes across the globe would be great. For example, I can see Table Mountain from where I am typing now - there must be a lot of learning to compare other geographic features around the world, and how much more interesting to be from the actual location!

When does the school year start for you in NZ? The school year runs from January to December here in SA, but of course we've already missed the start of the new year in the UK. Another reason for doing something less specifically curriculum-based, perhaps - it can be used more flexibly to support learning at any time? --Claire 10:38, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
