Dear Toly, A champion of human rights, to me, means someone who works against oppression. They not only try to get out from under the aggressor themselves, but they help others to get out from under the aggressor as well. At the end of Night, they wrote Elie’s acceptance speech. He talked about how important it is to work against people who oppress others. If one is not a part of the solution, then they are a part of the problem. Elie made a big step towards helping human rights by writing Night. He acknowledged that the Holocausthappened and the damage that it truly caused. By surviving he overcame the oppressors and showed that he was stronger than the powers that tried to crush him. He also challenged us, as the rest of the human race to fight the damage being done to humans all over the world. What do you think? Is it our responsibility to help champion human rights? Dear Toly & Shirley, In the book Night, many of the people in the book show the emotions of belief, indifference, and denial. Moishe the Beadle is a character that shows belief. Moishe encountered the beginning of this horrific journey before anyone else had. When he came back to Sighet, he tried to tell everyone of the horrifying things he had seen and the horrifying acts the soldiers were carrying out. Moishe the Beadle truly believed that that these acts were happening and would not cease to happen. He stands his ground, and does not abandon his views. The Jews in Sighet, however, were in denial to the situation. They did not want to believe that such horrible things were happening in the world. And such bad things could potentially happen to them. They turned their heads to the horrible situation about to happen. Elie showed indifference when his father was being beaten. His father called to him, but Elie, maybe scared for his own life, did not turn to his father when his father was in need. At that point, Elie had been through so much, that he could no longer go through the pain of seeing his father being beaten. Sincerely, Brittany
Dear Brittany Yea you are so right in this book there are alot of people who show those emotions of belief, indifference, and denial. Moshe the beadle shows the emotion of belief.Moshe saw the horrible things that happening to the jews and to other people,and he belived that those things will not stop.So he doesnt walk away from those places,and doesnt leave his views. The jews in sighet were in denial.They didnt want to believe that those bad things were happening to the world.they thought that this disaster will be over,and didnt ran away. Ellie showed the indifference emotion.when his father was beaten,and called Ellies help,he scared and could not help his father.But after some time he could not see his father beaten,also because he been through much.
Hi Toly! I saw a lot of different examples of foreshadowing throughout Night. I have read up to chapter four and even this early in the book there is a lot of foreshadowing. One really obvious example was Mrs. Schachter. She was the woman on the train that yelled “FIRE!” She was yelling fire when there was no fire. Everyone thought that she was crazy and obnoxious and they just held her down and tried to make her be quiet. She continued to yell “Fire” until finally there was a fire. When Elie goes to see the dentist he is told that he will need to come back. Elie becomes really worried. He knows that they will want to take his gold tooth and although he does everything he can to keep this tooth, he knows eventually he will lose it. He wants to keep it long enough to be able to get bread or something in return for it. This does not happen though, and the tooth is taken from him. The Polish guard tells Elie to “muster your strength and keep your faith… Have faith in life, a thousand times faith.” This is foreshadowing as well because for all of them to be able to last, they have to have faith that they will make it and live through the whole experience. It will be Elie’s faith in life that keeps him alive. The men around Elie start saying the prayer for the dead. Usually the prayer for the dead is said for people that have already died. But in this case the men are saying the prayer for themselves and their own death. They are predicting that they will be dying soon. Dear Allie In this book THE NIGHT there are alot of foreshadowing and you are right I aslo so those things you told in the first four chapters. When I read those chapters its like I already knew what is going to happend.all this examples of yours Isaw it to. When Elie goes to see the dentist he is told that he will need to come back. Elie becomes really worried. He knows that they will want to take his gold tooth and although he does everything he can to keep this tooth, he knows eventually he will lose it. I think it’s hard to apply morality to situations like the Holocaust. When Elie’s father is dying the head of the block tells him not to feed him. The head tells him that he should be saving the rations for himself because his father has no chance of survival. It is really hard to say whether denying his father food is moral or not. However, I think that it is never good to assist in someone’s death. Denying his father food would be an impossible choice to make but I also think that I would never be capable of starving my father to death. Elie teaches his father to follow the militarism that he hates. I think that it would be foolish not to learn the marching just in order to save his life. What do you think? Do you think
dear aliie think that there is a world that you can aplly to a sittuations like the holocaust like survival. In this situation the most important thing is survival.To keep them and there beloved ones safe.Like Ellie when he saw his father was beaten,he maybe knew that his father had no chance for survival but he kept feeding him and taking care of him. I think the same as you about that Ellie tought his father the militarizm that he hates.

I like sports, I run to the sea and back home 3 times a week. I go to box trainings also 3 times a week. I like to play computer games and see movies. My favourite TV show is called "Smallville", 1 time in a week new episode is come out to the web and I download it. I play only online games on the computer. I like my school very much, I have a lot of friends there, and the teachers treat the students well.
