Midterm - Grand Challenge: AI to Solve the World’s Challenges
1.1 Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is one of the fastest-growing technologies and hyped media coverage on AI has increased significantly as well in the recent years. As we know that AI is associated with human intelligence with similar characteristics such as reasoning, understanding, problem solving, language, and learning. This project research based on AI to Solve the World’s Challenges, which the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab is focused on fundamental artificial intelligence AI research with the goal of propelling scientific breakthroughs that unlock the potential of AI, and proceeded to look deeper into the more detail about this topic.
1.2 The Current Status of Work on AI
Currently, it is difficult for standalone AI applications to mimic human thought and communication. So the idea of AI completely replacing software engineers or salespeople is unlikely. However, in rote jobs like data entry and information mining, AI will likely become more prominent. Meanwhile, As AI becomes more integrated into our daily lives, how to address issues like safety and fairness will become central to how we think about developing and deploying AI systems.
