ICT IN EDUCATION
ICT according to a common man is Information And Communication Technology but for to an educationalist ICT In Education means much more. ICT IN EDUCATION means TEACHING AND LEARNING USING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY.
Education can be considered as a social training to help an individual wake up to life.It includes waking up to life in every sense,waking up to life and its mysteries, its solvable problems and the ways to solve the problems and celebrate the mysteries of life.The sole purpose of education is to aid in the process of waking up to the inter-dependencies of all things, to the threat to our global village, to the power within the human race to create alternatives, to the obstacles entrenched in economic, social and political structures that prevent our waking up.
But education is now in another dimension . Just look into our own country,India’s demographic mosaic consists of an increasing demands for education for a population half of which is in the age group of below 15 years of age and a linguistic break up of 15 different major languages.The demand for education far outstrips the conventional systems ability to provide it.At it is at this juncture the role of ICT IN EDUCATION comes into play.The notion that teaching and learning can be confined to the boundaries of schools ,colleges and educational institutions , is now outdated.Worldwide research has shown that ICT can lead to improved student learning and better teaching methods. Many reports have proved that an increase in student exposure to educational ICT through curriculum integration has a significant and positive impact on student achievement, especially in terms of "Knowledge・Comprehension" · "Practical skill" and "Presentation skill" in subject areas such as mathematics, science, and social study.
Thus to conclude ICT IN EDUCATION in broader sense includes the use of ICT in educating the future society.
