HIV

HIV and AIDS are a great manace in Kenya and especially i Nyanza, Nairobi and Coast Provinces. The scourge has not only affected the youth but the children and the aged.In some communities the transimission has been on the increase because people have insisted on holding on their belief. HIV is an antirretrovirus that is transmitted through varioous ways but basically by sexual intercourse.

AIDS

AIDS is a condition where the patient has symptoms of many diseases referred to as opportunistic diseases because they take advantage of reduced or compromised immune system.

The virus cannot survive outside fresh blood. It can however be found in fresh blood after accident thus the need to put on glooves while helping the victims of an accident.

Modes of transimission can be as follows

• sexual intercourse
• blood transfusion
• sharing of sharp objects during drugs
• tatooing

The following groups of people are most vulnerable to HIV and AIDS

1. young
2. sex workers
3. long distant drivers
4. orphans

The following effects greatly influence industrial production

• Reduced manhours hence production
  • Losses due to reduced profit margins
