I am Krishnapillai Murugan (Kris) and have been with the Tamil Nadu Open University (TNOU), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India since 2004 as Professor & Head, School of Humanities with additional responsibility as Director, Student Support Services Division. Trained in TESOL (Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Language), I joined the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi in 1986. Subsequently, I took up the assignment at the University of the West Indies Distance Education Centre (UWIDEC), Barbados as Curriculum Development Specialist in 1998. I strongly believe that only technology can solve the problems it creates (i.e., digital divide) and it is my conviction that OERs and software such as this (WikiEducator) in complement with suitable hardware will help us accelerate our mission of taking information/knowledge to those who need it and just when they need it.
