These sources all had impact on creating water from air because they started small, creating small amounts of water. Following the same ideas, they were able to create a larger, more usable and convenient creation. Now, more people will have water because of these creations.

Discussion Post:

780 million people face severe lack of water. This massive number is only growing as water becomes more and more scarce. I think this is very important because we are so fortunate as to have water at our instant disposal, and for so many millions to not have any source of water is unbelievable.

This Forbes article is from June 2019. Basically, UC Berkeley created a box that can create water out of thin air by making use of day and night cycle humidity. The difference in heat and humidity from day and night allow the box to work. However, the box does not create much water, and while it works, it isn't enough for mass usage.

This article from The Independent is from April 2017. Again, scientists had created a small box that uses zirconium and adipic acid to bind water vapor together and create water. It is solar powered, small, and efficient, but again because of the need for large amounts of water it simply didn't have the power to create that much water.

In this Business Insider article, it shows that two designers actually won the Xprize for creating a water chamber. The device harvests 2,000 liters of water per day, which is at least 100 people with clean water per day. This was enough to satisfy many people, and the two designers ended up taking home the 1.5 million dollars. The chamber uses a biomass "engine" to power it which uses organic matter, and has a tank to hold water created from humidity.

As a result of the final article, the status of this Xprize is complete.
