I was born in 1957 as the 6th children of my family. My name is Khatib Juma Khatib. My mother was a housewife and my father is business man. My mother passed away in 1979 while my father is still alive.

My academic qualification

I started schooling in 1965 at Chanjamjawiri School in Chake Chake District of Pemba Island. Then I joined Fidel Castro Secondary School for secondary education and later at Lumumba Secondary School for advanced secondary education which I finished in 1978. In 1978, I joined Ministry of Agriculture when I immediately started professional studies in diploma in crop production at Ministry of Agriculture Training Institute at Mwanza, Tanzania. In 1980 I started graduate course in agriculture at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania and graduated in 1984. In 1989 I went to the Republic of Philippines for MSc course in Agronomy and graduated in 1992. CNN Website

My professional qualification

I work as Principal Agricultural Research Officer at Kizimbani Agricultural Research Institute as Rice Research Program Coordinator. I work in all fields like crop improvement, crop management and other related issues to rice technology development that are geared towards increasing productivity and reducing poverty among rice farmers.
